Why I’m Running
When I was elected Mayor, I pledged to put our progressive values into action, to make local government work for the people of Seattle.
I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together: becoming the first large U.S. city to adopt a $15 minimum wage; passing secure scheduling for hourly and low wage workers; making record investments in transit, affordable housing, and parks; implementing and expanding an affordable preschool program that will open doors to opportunity for our young people; crafting a landmark Housing and Livability agenda that will protect neighborhoods and help our city grow responsibly and sustainably. It is these and our many other achievements that show what can be done when Seattle comes together.
Equity remains a challenge, but we are making progress. Police reform and accountability are ongoing. We are confronting gun violence. While there is no perfect solution, we are taking real steps forward on a compassionate, service-based approach to the homelessness crisis.
I hope you will join me as we continue building a Seattle that reflects the true diversity and innovative spirit of the people who call it home. I look forward to your continued energy, partnership and support.
